Notice of Race
(This replaces the Notice of Race
dated Feb. 16th in its entirety)
June 3 – 6, 2010
1 RULES
This regatta will be governed by the rules as defined
in The Racing Rules of Sailing
2009-2012 and the
Ideal 18 Class Rules, except as they are altered by the sailing instructions.
2 ADVERTISING
2.1 No competitor
advertising will be permitted.
2.2 Boats shall be required
to display advertising chosen and supplied by the
organizing authority.
3 ELIGIBILITY
3.1 Skippers shall belong to their National Governing
body.
3.2 All
disabled sailors who have US Sailing or ISAF classification 2009-2012 are
eligible to compete.
3.3 Sailors lacking US Sailing or ISAF classification 2009-2012 may enter by signing a form stating that they have disabilities; that they have a permanent physical impairment (other than obesity or hearing impairment) that substantially limits one or more life activities that has been diagnosed by a physician.
a) Blind sailors must be categorized as IBSA classification B1, B2 or B3.
b) Each
boat shall have a skipper and crew who are disabled plus one able bodied (AB)
member whose sole responsibilities will be for ballast and to perform physical
functions the crew cannot. No
coaching by ABs will be allowed.
c)
Participants are encouraged to provide their own ABs; but for those
participants unable to provide an AB, one will be provided if requested no later
than May 14, 2010.
d) All
disabled sailors, with the exception of the blind skippers, shall remain in
their seating while racing, whether strapped in or not. In the case of a blind skipper who is
on the rail, the AB shall remain fixed inside the boat on the opposite side
from the crew at all times while racing.
4 ENTRIES
AND FEES
4.1 Eligible skippers may enter by registering
online at www.robiepierceonedesignregatta.com. Please use the Registration link
provided on the website.
4.2 Entry deadline is
Friday, May 14, 2010.
4.3 The entry fee of $125 per sailor is payable
online through paypal.
There
is no fee for ABs.
Additional
tickets may be purchased for all regatta food, beverages and functions for $125
per person.
5 CLASSES
5.1 Races will be conducted in Ideal 18s
provided by the Organizing Authority with appropriate adaptations. All boats are to be sailed as provided
by the OA with the exception of pre-approved personal adaptations that may need
to be added by a sailor for his/her safety and comfort while sailing.
5.2 A $500 refundable damage deposit will be
required for insurance purposes by each team.
5.3 Boats will be
assigned and then adapted reflecting the specific needs of that skipper/crew
pair and sailed by that pair for the entire regatta. In the case of a severe
breakdown of equipment, a spare boat may be substituted for the pair’s original
boat.
6 SAILING
INSTRUCTIONS
Sailing instructions will be provided at registration and
available online by Tuesday, June 1.

8 RACING
AREA
The racing area will be in the
waters off the breakwater of Larchmont Harbor.
9 COURSES
Courses will be windward leeward as described in the
sailing instructions.
10 SCORING
10.1 One completed race shall constitute
a series.
10.2 The race committee intends to run multiple races. If
fewer than five races are completed a boat’s series score will be the total of
her race scores.
10.3 If five or more races are completed, a boat’s series score
will be the total of her race scores excluding her worst score subject to rule
90.3 (b).
10.4 Boats failing to finish within the time limit will be scored
Time Limit Expired (TLE) and will be given two (2) points more than the number
of finishers, except that she shall not be scored worse than DNF. This changes
rule 35.
11 PRIZES
11.1 Prizes will be awarded at the
conclusion of racing on Sun. June 6th
11.2 Prizes will be awarded for first
through fifth place finishers.
12 ELECTRONIC
COMMUNICATION
Each competitor shall carry a radio capable of
transmitting and receiving VHF Channel 73. Except in an emergency or to report a protest or withdrawal,
a boat shall neither make radio transmissions while racing nor receive radio
communications not available to all boats. This restriction also applies to mobile telephones and data
communication.
13 DOCKAGE
AND LAUNCHING
Moorings will be provided by Larchmont Yacht Club. If on moorings, boats will be brought
to the dock each morning. All
boats shall remain in the water for the duration of the regatta unless the
organizing authority deems it necessary to haul for repair.
14 HOUSING AND
TRANSPORTATION
14.1 Competitors are responsible for arranging their own
housing and transportation.
14.2 Housing for competitors will not be provided. A limited
number of special rate rooms have been reserved at nearby hotels. A complete
list of hotels is available on the event website. When making reservations,
please state that you are with the Robie Pierce One-Design Regatta. The number
of rooms is limited and the rate is subject to availability.

Amendment #1 to the Notice of Race
In section 3.3 of the Notice of Race, change
"ISAF" to "IFDS" so that the
first part of the first sentence reads:
